One person’s rubbish is another person’s gold… which is why Grace Cares is committed to a zero-to-landfill policy. We want to keep as much care equipment out of tips and rubbish dumps as we can.
We put the planet and people first. We aim to sell, donate and recycle 100% of our pre-loved care equipment and are proud of our circular economy partnerships.
The Government has forecast that the damage by climate change will cost the UK economy £20 billion by 2050. In the UK, we send approximately 7.7 million tonnes of biodegradable municipal waste to landfill. OK, this isn’t all care equipment, but care is a very wasteful sector often through fear of legal repercussions or lack of knowledge and support. This must change! and whether we like it or not change is coming.
Our founders are passionate about sustainability and environmental issues, helping care workers and older people and the local community. So much so, that we have taken part in the Carbon Literacy Programme and are Carbon Literate Citizens.
We also offer sustainable activities and ESG training for our regular and committed partners, customers and corporate sponsors. Could this be beneficial to you?
Additionally, we produce monthly IMPACT reports for our regular and committed partners, customers and corporate partners. These can be used as regular documented evidence for the Care Quality Commission as to how you are working towards ESG and sustainability goals.
These include statistics on:
- Carbon footprint
- Care equipment saved from landfill
- Care equipment in new homes
- Care equipment that has been repurposed
- Care equipment that has been repaired and maintained
- Population data of who uses our services
- The community impact they are part of
- The impact our grants have had on those on the care sector.
In terms of collection and waste disposal, our team are Safe Contractor approved, CHAS accredited, have the Environmental Agency waste carrier licence and are fully insured.
If you have any care equipment you no longer require PLEASE get in touch and donate. You can either fill in our donation form, call us on 01543 730189 or email hello@grace-cares.com
