Unit & Sales Support Volunteer

Be part of the heartbeat of the Grace Cares tribe. Our unit is where the magic happens – where care equipment finds new homes, volunteers come together, and people in the community receive the help they need.

This varied role supports the day-to-day running of the unit, helping visitors find the right piece of equipment, keeping displays looking welcoming, and supporting fellow volunteers.

Typical tasks might include welcoming visitors to the unit, helping them choose suitable equipment, making refreshments for volunteers, keeping displays looking tip-top, and helping with other ad hoc tasks.

This is a regular volunteer role with a minimum commitment of once a month.

Fixing/Maintenance Volunteer 

Come to the unit and support our reactive maintenance team to bring care equipment back to life.

Cleaning Volunteer

Come to the unit and have fun using our Karcher steam cleaner and different cleaning gadgets to get our care equipment ready for its new home.

Research has actually shown that people gravitate to repeated routines like cleaning at times of high stress because it offers a sense of control during hectic times in their lives.

Photography Volunteer

Come to the unit and show off your creative flair taking photos of care equipment in our studio to be used for our website and social media channels. It would also be brilliant if you could measure items and complete our information cards for items to be listed online and upload your final images into our online file system.

We sell lots of our pre-loved care equipment via our online shop. By making our products look the best on a photo, you will help us to support more care workers, older people and the local community.

Online Marketplace Volunteer

Do you enjoy marketing and administration jobs? Then supporting our sales team is a great place for you! We always need help listing items on our website, online marketplaces and social media platforms so they get seen by more people.

We have easy to follow processes and video support. Also this role can be completed from home if travel would be an issue for you.

Van Driver Volunteer

Help us rescue care equipment from landfill and get it to the people who need it most. As a Grace Cares Van Driver, you’ll help collect and deliver pre-loved care equipment from care homes, community partners, and households, ensuring it can be cleaned, tested, and given a new home.

Typical tasks include helping collect equipment from partner sites, delivering items to our unit, and occasionally supporting local deliveries.

Every item you help move gives someone else the support they need.

Van Support Volunteer

Join our van crew and help collect and deliver pre-loved care equipment across the community. As a Grace Cares Van Support Volunteer, you’ll accompany the driver to help load, unload, and move equipment safely, ensuring it can be cleaned, tested, and given a new home.

• A practical, hands-on volunteering role

Typical tasks include helping lift and move equipment, assisting with collections from partner sites, and supporting deliveries to the Grace Cares unit.

Every item you help move can make life easier for someone who needs it.

Tea Party Driver Volunteer

Help older people in our community attend our Grace Cares Tea Parties by offering a lift to and from the gathering. Many of our guests would love to attend but are unable to travel independently, so volunteer drivers make these special afternoons possible.

You can choose to stay and enjoy the tea party or simply drop guests off and return later to take them home.

Tea parties usually take place on the third Sunday of the month from 3–5pm, and drivers can volunteer whenever it suits them.

A small journey for you can mean the world to someone else.

Tea Party Host Volunteer

Open your home once or twice a year and host a small afternoon tea for a group of lovely older guests in your community. Grace Cares Tea Parties bring together 8–10 single older people aged 75+ for a relaxed Sunday afternoon of cake, conversation, and companionship.

• Share your love of baking, hosting, or simply good company

• Meet wonderful people and hear fascinating life stories

• Create a warm, welcoming space where people feel valued

• A small act of kindness that makes a big difference

Our tea parties usually take place on the third Sunday of the month from 3–5pm, and hosts typically volunteer once or twice a year. You’ll be supported by our volunteer drivers and the Grace Cares team.

If you enjoy cake, conversation, and bringing people together, this could be the perfect volunteer role for you.

Kindness Rock Painting Volunteer

Share your creative spirit and brighten someone’s day by leading rock painting sessions with care home residents in the Midlands and Staffordshire. This rewarding role combines creativity with meaningful conversations, helping to reduce isolation and bring joy through art.

• Flexible commitment – volunteer once or make it a monthly activity

The sessions run mid-morning on weekdays and require just 1.5 hours of your time, including setup and cleanup. You’ll arrive 15 minutes before to prepare materials, spend an hour painting and chatting with residents, and take 15 minutes afterward to tidy up.
